Can I move/change my product path without any problems?

I’ve noticed that the patchassistant.config we use contains a product list with directory paths. I assume this is required, and that changing the ACTUAL path where work is done would cause problems without ALSO changing the patchassistant.config name.

Question is: Are there any other ramifications? Will changing the patchassistant.config Product path require rebuilding previous patches, or even resetting them back to release 0 under the new name?

The patchassistant.config file is used when starting up the GUI to load the products you had been previously working on. If you use the Console, you can move the entire product directory and its project/release subfolders without any ramifications. Of course, you’ll want to change the ProductPath in all of your Console command files to reflect the new product path, but that’s all there is to it. Make sure you move the entire directory (including solid.patchproduct and solid.patchproject files) while maintaining the existing folder structure for projects and releases.

If storage space is a concern, you’ll want to check out this document (please read it carefully):

To change it in the GUI, you’d simply close Patch Assistant, move the product to the new path and edit the patchassistant.config to reflect the new product path. Upon restart the product would load from the new directory. Alternatively, you could remove the product from the GUI, then move the product filesystem to a new path, then re-open the GUI and re-attach the product from its new location.
